If you want to create a team using specific filters of characteristics, the best option is to make use of team profiles.

Before you review this article, refer to our “How do I create a team profile?” page to understand the process of creating one.

  1. To get started, navigate to the List sub-menu item from the Team item in the main menu bar. The default selection will be the PROFILES LIST, displaying all the team profiles you have created.

2. For this article, we’re trying to create a 'Content team' of just two members. Click on the previously made Content Team profile at the bottom to open it up.

This will bring up the default team profile page, first displaying all the employees added in as members, with their dominant behavior styles listed.

Under the heading of the page, the Expected Team Size is displayed. Currently, we haven’t selected the 2 appropriate candidates for the team.

The default list selection is ALL at the start. Notice the two boxes with numbers inside them against the ALL list, 2 in the lighter box, and 3 in the darker box. The 2 signifies that you’re looking for two members out of 3 who are available.

For this particular team, when creating the profile, we want one employee with the Risk-Tolerant characteristic and another with the Original characteristic.

Let’s select the Original list to select the relevant employee.

When you select a characteristic, it displays the relevant people you can add to the team. The list can also be broken down based on how heavily you want a team member to exhibit that characteristic. That’s what you see displayed as percentage ranges on the left-hand side.

What the 1 | 1 shows is that we created the profile to find one person with the Original characteristic, and there’s only one person available. That person is Raymond Holt. To add him to the team, click the checkbox next to his name.

When you select Raymond, it also brings up a summary of his behavior profile with diagrams.

Next, we need to add one Risk-Tolerant person. Navigate to the Risk-Tolerant list.

First, notice the 0 | 2 numbers above the 50-60% range. This means that there are 2 employees with this propensity for risk-tolerance, but the team profile does not desire this type of person.

The 60-70% range, however, has a 1 | 1 designation, indicating that we’re looking for one person in this range, and there is just one person available. Select this age range to reveal the desired employee.

However, there’s a problem since the Risk-Tolerant individual in the desired 60-70% range is also Raymond Holt, who has already been added to the team.

Given this constraint, we have to compromise and select one of the two people in the 50-60% range.

In this range, Anne is an Initiator and Milinda is an Influencer. Since we already have one Initiator, Raymond, let’s pick Milinda.

Selecting Milinda updates the diagrams below the list as well, showing a summary of the profiles with the dominant behavioral style.

With the members selected, type the Team Name in the field above the list options. Let’s type in Content Marketers.

Then click the blue Create Team button. You’ll automatically be taken to the List page.

Select TEAM LIST, and you’ll notice the Content Marketers team right at the bottom.

When creating teams from team profiles, you find the most suitable people for a group through constraints defined by us, and by the behavior styles of employees.
